At Beckfoot Hazelbeck we want all of our students to enjoy, learn and succeed; in order to achieve, they must feel safe and well cared for. Because our students are amongst the most vulnerable young people, we make a significant commitment to them and their parents and carers to keep them safe.
We also require our staff to make a significant commitment to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves, their colleagues and co-workers as well as visitors to the school.
Safeguarding Policy
Our child protection and safeguarding policy ensures these values are recognised and adhered to.
Support for families
This website is fantastic for any family living in Bradford. Here you can find information and advice on a wide range of topics, find out what’s on in the Bradford District.
There is support for money, safety, education, special educational needs and more.

Operation Encompass
Our school is part of Operation Encompass, which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.
As a school, we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedure, allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the children in our care.
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021, identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right. If school receives a notification from Operation Encompass, a safeguarding lead may contact you to check in and offer any further support.

The Prevent Duty
Schools are duty bound to safeguard students from radicalisation and being drawn into extremism. If school suspects this is happening, they will make a referral to the local Prevent Team to gain support for the student.
What to do if you think a child is being radicalised
If you think a child or the people around them are involved in radicalisation and there is an immediate risk of harm, call 999 straight away. If the risk isn’t immediate, please speak to your schools safeguarding lead.
